Restaurant Coupon Put to Good Use
Normally I avoid cheap sushi, but last night I made an exception. I finally used that restaurant coupon I bought for $4.00 on Slickdeals. The coupon was worth $50 off the purchase of $100 at a local sushi restaurant (alcohol included!!).
So I called my friends and we went out last night for a great meal. [...]

A Cheap Family Vacation
So I’m finally back at home, unpacked, and settled in. So let’s talk about my vacation. For starters, it was pretty cheap. Cheap as in affordable, not tacky. We stayed at a nice beach house in the first week of off-season, so the rates were much more reasonable than if we had vacationed in the [...]

When is Produce In-Season?
Now that I’m bargain-hunting at the grocery each week, I’m trying to buy in-season produce that is on sale. Other than oranges, which I know are in-season during the winter months, I’ve never really been aware of which produce is fresh at different times of the year- until now. I found a website called Fruit [...]

Spending Zero Dollars and Slow Cookers
Do slow cookers contain the secret to wealth? If you ask my grandma, the answer is yes! I made the mistake of asking her for money-saving advice related to cooking. “You don’t have a crock pot? Do you want mine, because you can have mine! You have to have a crock pot, you’re wasting your [...]

Restaurant Coupons from Slickdeals
I stumbled across this Slickdeal yesterday. The deal is an extra 80% off restaurant coupons at Restaurant.com. The website is cool because you can search by zip code to find coupons for restaurants right in your neighborhood. I found a coupon worth $50 for only $20. But that’s a normal coupon from this website. The [...]

What’s for Dinner?
Food is a tricky topic when it comes to being frugal. I love eating healthy- natural and organic foods are my best friend- but that comes at a price.
Besides learning to shop smart (clipping coupons, looking for deals at the grocery) I’ve also been learning to cook at home. I’ve learned an important lesson so [...]

When Super-sizing Really Saves
A friend of mine recently got ripped off at Subway. She ordered a 6-inch sub, no chips or drink. Her total for that dinky little sandwich was $4.50. She was shocked and shared her surprise with the cashier, who snidely said, “well, you should have gotten the foot-long”.
Turns out that rude cashier was right. It [...]

Survival Strategies
Here are some money-saving survival strategies that I want to use:
Bring lunch from home. Boring? Yes. Cheap? Hell yes.
Avoid lots of city driving by running all errands in one day. Do the speed limit on the highway. I have definitely noticed my gas mileage and my wallet benefit from this so far!
Learn to cook. More [...]
